Valero McKee Blast Resistant Central Control Building

Securing One Of The World’s Biggest Brands

The Valero McKee Plant in the Dallas area gave us an ambitious project: a blast-resistant masonry control building. We took on the challenge, and the results exceeded expectations while providing valuable experience in industrial construction, durability, and petrochemical facility construction—experience we carry forward into future projects.

The Details

The project resulted in a 12,528-square-foot, single-story, state-of-the-art blast-resistant building to house the plant’s masonry controls. Key features include:

  • Independent structural steel frames for true blast-resistant durability

  • Split-faced CMU block exterior for added strength and aesthetics

  • Redundant mechanical and emergency power systems

  • Collaborative design with RVK Architects, resulting in innovative and functional solutions
