NURTURING GROWTH AND IMAGINATION
Today’s school designs are addressing our evolving understanding of how children learn and how educators work together with both students and their colleagues. We understand that your facilities plans still need to contend with unique budget parameters and complicated timelines which will require creative solutions regardless of grade level or building program. Bartlett Cocke General Contractors has broad experience working with diverse users and designers and continue to find responsive building solutions that address your community’s needs well into the future.
In addition, the ability to minimize disruption and maintain a safe work environment on occupied Pre K-12 school campuses is paramount at all times. We successfully meet these challenges with every job, achieving goals for the best possible educational experience as an end result.
PRE K-PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Today’s Pre-k/Elementary schools address the intellectual growth as well as the emotional development of children in campuses most often located in their own neighborhoods. Whether student learning takes place in traditional classrooms, small groups, individually, or outside your facilities, the need to provide a safe, energy efficient, cost effective environment for your students to learn and educators to work.
INTERMEDIATE/MIDDLE SCHOOLS
As Intermediate/Middle Schools’ programs become increasingly complex with the growth of STEM programs, enhanced Fine Arts, and other specialized spaces we are challenged to find creative solutions that balance budgets with the focus on student opportunity. Middle Schools must address both student’s social/emotional growth in a facility that remains flexible enough to evolve as educational programs change and remain effective for years to come.
HIGH SCHOOLS
No other building type makes a more visible statement about a community’s commitment to their children than a High School. Whether your campus will be a traditional comprehensive High School or a specialized academy, our teams of Builders have the experience to deliver your vision. Each project from new campuses to the regeneration of legacy buildings will benefit from a team that is committed from planning and budgeting through construction and move-in to an unblinking focus on quality, jobsite safety, and financial responsibility.
A REPUTATION BUILT ON A+ RESULTS
We are continually seeking new ways to create flexible, high performance Pre K-12 facilities that are energy efficient, adaptable and accommodating to both today’s and tomorrow’s technology advancements. We possess a wealth of experience delivering educational environments that support all types of hands-on-learning, including those for language, science, performing arts, CTE and more. In addition, our projects have featured athletic facilities for many types of sports training and competitions.
We are passionate about relationships and we take pride in being there for our clients whenever, wherever, and for whatever they need.

EARLY EDUCATION / PRE-K
EARLY EDUCATION / PRE-K PROGRAMS SET THE FOUNDATION FOR A LIFELONG LOVE OF LEARNING
Pre-K Early Learning facilities are so much more than just a school. They provide a space for a child’s introduction to learning, a first step into a much larger and exciting world. By providing positive, high-quality early learning experiences, children are better able to develop the skills and motivation needed to succeed in school. The benefits of providing a solid Pre-K program include higher test scores, language development, motor skills, higher rates of attendance and fewer behavior problems.
Early childhood education is encouraged for the healthy development and nurturing of all these important foundations, and trends show that parents are increasingly recognizing this. In fact, according to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), enrollment in prekindergarten-level education has risen from 96,000 to over 1 million in the last 30 years.
An environment created to engage and encourage children to touch, play, and explore.
CAREER & TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION (CTE)
Career and Technical Education (CTE) is defined as the practice of teaching skills-based careers to students in middle school, high school, and post-secondary institutions. CTE has become increasingly popular across the United States as more people realize how crucial job skills training is to the country.
HANDS ON LEARNING
Practice, hands-on experience, and application tests make up the bulk of CTE. This is important because CTE careers require workers to have experience in their field before starting a career. After all, many CTE tracks take students to careers that can save lives. Health science, government, law, agriculture, and construction especially relate to others’ health and safety.
Because of that, CTE instructors often focus more on practice and improvement instead of textbook memorization.
HEAD START
CTE programs give students the chance to get a head start on preparing for college and careers. Then, students can earn the certifications they need to start their careers, many of which are currently in high demand.
At the same time, CTE tracks don’t limit students to single careers. In fact, many students use these courses as preparation before moving onto community college or university.
APPLICABLE TO ALMOST EVERY AGE
This is because students can understand fundamentals of any career as early as sixth grade, and they can build essential skills well into adulthood.
That’s why you’ll find CTE tracks offered in middle schools, high schools, and post-secondary institutions.
PERFORMING ARTS CENTERS
The importance of the Performing Arts as a crucial element in a student’s educational and social growth cannot be understated. Involvement in the Performing Arts engages the mind, body, and emotions and helps to foster confidence, sharpen communications skills, develop emotional intelligence and improve academic performance.
THEATER
The show must go on! The Performing Arts auditoriums and stages that we deliver for our PreK -12 clients are cutting-edge and flexible venues that provide students with the spaces and technology they need to pursue their passions while giving patrons a comfortable and engaging viewing experience. This includes Black Box Theaters, Fly-Lofts, Orchestra Pits, Green Rooms and Dressing Rooms, Scenery Shops and more.
BAND & CHOIR
As Plato once said, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” Providing students with the very best music and band hall spaces is a source of pride for all of us at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors. Choir, Mariachi, Orchestra Rooms, whatever the space requirements…we know how to deliver.
LIGHTING & SOUND
To fully experience a dramatic or musical performance, proper lighting and sound are required…and your students and patrons deserve the best. We know how to build facilities that support today’s sound and lighting technologies including modern Audio/Visual systems, acoustical construction materials and methods, and complex lighting and rigging systems.
ATHLETIC FACILITIES
Strengthening the body as well as the mind is what student athletics is all about. Teamwork, reducing anxiety and stress, and respect for others are just a few of the positives that go along with the physical benefits that participation in athletics encourages in students.
PLAYING FIELDS / SURFACES
Running, jumping, throwing, catching, swimming…whatever sports your students are interested in…we have built the playing field or venue to support it. Our experience includes multiple surface types and collegiate-level playing fields and natatoriums for our PreK – 12 clients. In addition, we know how to deliver a fun and exciting experience for the fans by providing first-class stadiums and gymnasiums.
SUPPORT FACILITIES
Athletics Support Facilities provide the necessary amenities to help your student athletes compete, your coaches to coach, and your fans to cheer. Field houses, coach’s offices, ticketing, concessions, equipment storage…are a few of the spaces we know how to deliver for our PreK -12 clients.
TRAINING & LOCKER ROOMS
To perform on game day, your student athletes need to put in the work at the gym. Weight rooms, cardio rooms, stretching areas…we know how to build them. We understand that training, locker and dressing rooms need to be durable and functional.
SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors possess significant experience in the construction of high-performance Pre K – 12 buildings. We utilize sustainable design and construction techniques to create environmentally responsible facilities that conform to standards established by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, the Texas Collaborative for High Performance Schools (TX-CHPS) criteria and achieve Net-Zero energy usage.
LEED
We know how to deliver Pre K – 12 schools that conform to all four levels of LEED Certification. We are able to significantly reduce the cost of achieving sustainability by utilizing our experience and employing strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
NET-ZERO
Achieving Net-Zero energy usage, meaning the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site, requires an experienced builder. Bartlett Cocke General Contractors knows how to deliver Net-Zero facilities by utilizing the most advanced construction means and methods.
TX-CHPS
Our construction teams have successfully delivered multiple projects that are TX-CHPS certified. We are knowledgeable and skilled at delivering schools that achieve the TX-CHPS criteria goals of reducing operating costs; achieving higher student performance; increasing daily attendance; retaining quality teachers and staff; be energy, water and resource efficient; and minimizing environmental impact.
WORKING ON OCCUPIED SCHOOL CAMPUSES
MAXIMUM SUCCESS . MINIMAL STRESS
Through our experience working on active school campuses, we have developed a “Campus – Contractor Coordination Program” that provides us with a solid understanding of the constraints, phasing and logistics, dust control, timing considerations, noise control, space considerations, security, access/egress control, and interim life safety requirements necessary to ensure safety and maintain normal campus activities.
MINIMIZE IMPACT
We frequently meet with campus personnel to ensure that our work doesn’t affect the educational environment. Ongoing educational activities often require projects that take place in off-hours, using isolation barriers and just-in-time material deliveries. We also develop detailed site logistic plans and neighborhood programs with surrounding communities to understand the areas activities and minimize disruptions and surprises.
MINIMAL DISTURBANCE
We plan and coordinate the work to sufficiently isolate construction activities from the operations of the campus. The security and safety of students/faculty/visitors is of paramount concern. In order to minimize the impact of construction and maintain normal operations, we isolate construction to the areas we are working through the use of perimeter fencing, temporary barricades, dust partitions, and performing selective demolition and utility shutdowns during off hours and on holidays.
MAXIMUM SAFETY
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors conducts some of the strongest internal safety initiatives and planning programs in the state. We believe that the same employee decision making ability that keeps our clients projects on time and within budget, will also keep students/faculty/visitors – as well as our employees and subcontractors – safe when on the construction site. Because of our extensive experience working on active and occupied educational campuses, we know what it is like to work in this environment.
