La Vernia Independent School District recently celebrated an important milestone in its 2023 bond program as district trustees, Superintendent Dr. Hensley Cone, and project partners gathered for two beam-signing events.
Representatives from Bartlett Cocke General Contractors and Pfluger Architects joined district leaders on July 6 to sign structural beams for major additions at La Vernia High School and La Vernia Junior High School. The tradition gave members of the project team an opportunity to leave their mark on facilities that will serve La Vernia students for years to come.
At the high school, construction is progressing on a new 15,000-square-foot cafeteria addition scheduled for completion in spring 2027. The junior high project includes a new 48,000-square-foot, two-story addition with classrooms, a gymnasium, library, locker rooms, and weight room. That addition is anticipated to be ready for the 2027-28 school year.
Supporting a Growing School Community
Both projects are part of the district’s $109 million bond program approved by voters in May 2023. The program was developed to address enrollment growth, increase classroom capacity, improve safety and security, and renovate aging facilities throughout the district.
For Bartlett Cocke, milestones like these represent more than construction progress. They reflect the planning, collaboration, and community investment required to create schools where students can learn, connect, and thrive.
As a Texas-based, employee-owned builder with decades of PK-12 experience, Bartlett Cocke is proud to work alongside La Vernia ISD, Pfluger Architects, trade partners, and the broader community to help bring the district’s long-range vision to life. Our PK-12 work is grounded in careful planning, clear communication, safety, quality, and a commitment to delivering lasting value for students, educators, and families.
