James Anderson Honored with 2026 San Antonio Business Journal C-Suite Award

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is proud to congratulate Chairman & CEO James Anderson on being named a recipient of the 2026 San Antonio Business Journal C-Suite Award.

The award recognizes outstanding executive leadership across San Antonio’s business community and celebrates leaders who have made a meaningful impact on their organizations, employees, industries, and communities. James was honored alongside this year’s recipients at the C-Suite Awards ceremony on September 3, with his wife, Shayna, joining him for the celebration.

The recognition comes during a milestone year for Anderson, who recently celebrated 30 years with Bartlett Cocke General Contractors. His career reflects a longstanding commitment to the company, its people, and the communities it serves.

Over the course of three decades, Anderson has helped guide Bartlett Cocke from a respected Texas builder into one of the state’s leading employee-owned general contractors. Today, the company serves clients across the education, healthcare, civic, industrial, manufacturing, and commercial sectors while remaining committed to its purpose of Building Better Lives.

Under Anderson’s leadership, Bartlett Cocke achieved record revenue of $1.3 billion while continuing to strengthen its people-first culture. The company has been recognized as a Best Place to Work by The Business Journals in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston, earned Quantum Workplace’s Certified Workplace designation, was named one of Newsweek’s Greatest Midsize Workplaces, and ranked among ENR’s Top 400 Contractors.

Operationally, Bartlett Cocke completed nearly 30 projects across Texas over the past year while maintaining a robust preconstruction pipeline that positions the company for continued growth. The organization also earned numerous industry awards recognizing excellence in construction, safety, quality, and project delivery.

Beyond financial performance, Anderson has championed investments in employee development, wellness, leadership growth, and organizational culture. His leadership helped launch new initiatives focused on employee well-being while strengthening the company’s long-term strategic vision and organizational structure.

His commitment to service extends beyond the company as well. Anderson has supported numerous community organizations throughout Texas and has helped foster a culture of giving back across Bartlett Cocke. Under his leadership, the company participated in more than 400 community events statewide and continues to support projects that create lasting impact in the communities where its employee-owners live and work.

A recent example of that commitment was Bartlett Cocke’s participation in the NCAA Men’s Final Four Legacy Project in partnership with San Antonio Sports and the Harlandale Boys & Girls Club. Through the efforts of Bartlett Cocke employees and trade partners, nearly $169,000 in services and materials were donated to help transform the Rayburn Elementary School Clubhouse and Park, creating new opportunities for local youth and families.

Those who know Anderson best often point to his servant leadership style, commitment to relationships, and unwavering focus on people. Whether visiting jobsites, mentoring future leaders, or helping shape the company’s strategic direction, he remains focused on creating opportunities for others to succeed.

Please join us in congratulating James on this well-deserved recognition and celebrating his continued leadership and impact on Bartlett Cocke, the construction industry, and the communities we serve.
