School Development Racing to Catch Up with San Antonio Growth Trends

It’s no secret that San Antonio is facing a population growth spurt. Residential development is picking up speed, commercial construction is on the rise and new retail outlets are opening by the day. But what about the structures that house the city’s future planners?
As more residential development fills in the bridge between San Antonio and Austin along the I-35 and I-10 corridors, schools are the next step in establishing those neighborhoods. Just this morning I wrote about the master planned-community Lennar has in store for nearly 800 acres of land in Bulverde. The site, which extends along U.S. Highway 281 directly below the Hwy. 46 intersection, will have land earmarked for a new Comal Independent School District campus.
I had the chance to sit down with Kirk Kistner, Bartlett Cocke’s vice president of business development, to talk about the explosion of new school development and remodeling activity.
